Geographical Location

印度尼西亞全國面積為1,919,440平方公里,約由17,508個島嶼組成。

印尼群島位居亞洲大陸及澳洲間,為太平洋、印度洋間要衝,在全球戰略上居重要地位。

Indonesia covers an area of 1,919,440 square kilometer, made up of 17, 508 islands.

人口與民族

Population and Ethnics

印尼有2.772億人口,為世界第四人口大國;境內約有300多個民族及742種語言及方言。印尼官方語言為印尼語。

The population of the Indonesia is 277,200,000. There are more than 300 ethnic groups and 742 languages. The official language is Indonesian.

文化特色

印度尼西亞國內有超過300個種族,歷經數百年的歷史,並受到印度、阿拉伯、中國、馬來及歐洲文化影響。

傳統爪哇及峇里舞蹈包括婆羅門教、印度教文化及印度神話的觀點。打擊樂器在傳統音樂中位居重要地位,印尼舞蹈歷史悠久,形式多元、豐富。

建築風格受印度建築影響最深,也受中國、阿拉伯及歐洲建築風格的影響。

由於地理位處赤道,氣候濕熱,許多建築物不建邊牆,助於通風及散熱,屋頂使用木板片、棕櫚、泥製瓦片或紅瓦片。

宗教建築以佛教的婆羅浮屠(前世界七大奇景)和印度教的普蘭巴那最為著名,兩者都是聯合國教科文組織所列的世界文化遺產。

Features of Culture

There are over 300 ethnic groups in Indonesia. For hundreds of years, Indonesian culture is strongly influenced by India, Arabia, China, Malaysia and Europe.

Traditional Java and Bali dance involve diverse perspectives, including Brahmanism, Hinduism culture and Indian mythology. Percussion instruments play an important part in their traditional music. Dance in Indonesia has a long history and reflects the country’s diversity of cultures.

The most significant foreign influence on the architecture of Indonesia has been India.  However, Chinese, Arab, and European influences have also played significant roles in shaping Indonesian architecture. 

Due to lying across the Equator, the climate of Indonesia is humid and hot. Built to adapt to hot and wet climate, the houses are constructed without side walls and the material for the roof is mostly wood plank, palm leaves, clay tiles or red tiles.

World-known religious buildings are Borobudur (the previous 7 wonders of the world) and Candi Prambanan, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

美食特色

Features of Food

印尼料理具有多樣化、活力、豐富多彩且充滿濃郁風味的料理。全國各地以當地物產與飲食文化為基礎,加上外來飲食文化的影響。主食為稻米,搭配肉類和蔬菜。香料、椰漿為常用的食材,以煎、炸、烤等方式烹調。

當地著名美食有Rendang(仁當)、Soto Ayam(印尼雞湯)、Sate Ayam(沙嗲雞)、Tumpeng和Bakso(牛肉丸湯)。另外,Nasi Tumpeng(塑形成圓錐狀並搭配多種配料的薑黃飯)為印尼代表性的食物,通常在慶祝生日及特殊節日時會享用。

Indonesian cuisines feature diversity, colorful presentation and rich flavors. Their dishes are characteristic of local food and diet culture, influenced by other cultures. Their staple foods are rice, meat and vegetables. Spices and coconut milk are common ingredients. Common cooking methods are frying, deep-frying, roasting and so on.

Famous cuisines are Rendang, Soto Ayam, SateAyam, Tumpeng and Bakso. In addition, Nasi Tumpeng (the cone shaped rice surrounded by assorted Indonesian dishes) is a traditional Indonesian cuisine, which is usually served to celebrate birthday or special festivals.
